Every Course has a pro, but very few have the long family history and ties with the RRGC community that our Golf Professional has.
Head Golf Professional
Billy Bassler Jr.
Having grown up in the Rolling Road Golf Professional tradition, Billy was appointed Assistant Pro in 1972 and Head Professional in 1981. As a competitive golfer Billy holds several titles, including MAPGA Assistants Champion in 1976, MAPGA Champion Medal Play in 1980 and MAPGA 2-man Champion in 1983. Billy played on the PGA Tour in 1982. He holds the course record here at RRGC with a score of 62. Billy achieved this accomplishment on July 13th, 1985. Billy's two sons Matt and Michael in 2006 won the Club Championship and the Junior Championship respectively.
Assistant Professional
Steven Papanek
Steven hails from Northeast Pennsylvania, just outside the Poconos. After graduating from High School in 1981, he moved on and studied at East Stroudsburg University. Steven's golf career began in 1983 at the Torresdale Frankford Country Club in Philadelphia and worked at the Olde Masters Golf Glub and the Doylestown Country Club in the Philadelphia Section where he was a multiple event winner. He gained PGA membership in 1991. Steven participated in the PGA Club Professional Tournament Series and played in the Spalding Space Coast Mini Tour. Since moving to Maryland, Steven has been working at The Kenwood Golf & Country Club for the past 19 years.
