Every Course has a pro, but very few have the long family history and ties with the RRGC community that our Golf Professional has.
Head Golf Professional
Billy Bassler Jr.
Having grown up in the Rolling Road Golf Professional tradition, Billy was appointed Assistant Pro in 1972 and Head Professional in 1981. As a competitive golfer Billy holds several titles, including MAPGA Assistants Champion in 1976, MAPGA Champion Medal Play in 1980 and MAPGA 2-man Champion in 1983. Billy played on the PGA Tour in 1982. He holds the course record here at RRGC with a score of 62. Billy achieved this accomplishment on July 13th, 1985. Billy's two sons Matt and Michael in 2006 won the Club Championship and the Junior Championship respectively.
Assistant Professional
Randy Porter
Randy is from Catonsville, Maryland he is a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph's High School(1984) and then attended Towson University.Randy Graduated in 1988 and began his path towards becoming a PGA pro. In 1993 the PGA accepted him amoungst their illustrous ranks as a pro. Since then Randy has been an Assistant Pro at Hobbits Glen, The Bear's Club, and Friar Head. He joined us at Rolling Road Golf Club in 2005 and had been teaching and playing here as our Assistant Pro. Randy loves working with our membership at any age and ability level.
